[Song of the Week] "Opposite Of Adults" - Chiddy Bang

I feel like everyone has heard this song at one point or another, even if they haven't heard of the artist. Chiddy Bang, comprised of a rapper and a DJ, is one of my most favorite rap duos in the game. Highly underrated and definitely under appreciated, these guys always produce quality hits. From hard hitting lyrics to bangin beats and everything in between, you are sure to find a Chiddy Bang song that you can't stop listening to. This particular song was the first song I heard from these guys and I just couldn't get enough. Reminds me of senior year of high school all over again. Sighs. Good times. [Song of the Week] "Nike Boots" - Wale

This is an oldie. Can't believe it's been about three whole years since this dropped. I remember this joint as the first song I heard/liked from the DMV kid, Wale. Of course, since then Folarin has been making quite a name for himself across the nation while joining forces with the Maybach Music Empire. Boy, does this bring back memories of senior year in high school. Best year of my life. Video above, check it out.

[Song Of The Week] "I'm On One (Piano Cover)" - Bei Maejor

How many of y'all heard the name? Probably not many of you. I first got into Maejor after hearing him produce a beat out of household items (YouTube it, it's pretty cool). Soon after, I heard that he sings and occasionally raps as well. He usually does piano covers of hot songs such as this one right here. I really dig the vibe of this song, so check it out. [Song Of The Week] "Lose Yourself" - Eminem

I had to go with a classic this week. It just may be my overall favorite song of all time. It's the first song I ever heard from Eminem. No particular memories with this one besides the fact that it hypes me up for everything. My go to song when I'm walking towards an exam. I'm gonna put a download below but shame on you if you don't have this song on your iPod already lol.

[Song Of The Week] "Lost Ones" - J.Cole

Someone asked me the other day how it's been almost 2 months since I've been doing this Song of the Week thing and I still don't have a J.Cole song up haha. Well here you are. It's not my most favorite song by Jermaine, but it is the most heartfelt one from the self proclaimed Fayettenam spitta. Great storytelling song as Cole presents a dialogue between a young unmarried couple who just found out that they are pregnant. Sad to say cases like this are more prevalent than we can imagine. [Song Of The Week] "Hero" - Nas ft. Keri Hilson

"As I grow yearly, I can see things more clearly. That's why they fear me."

One of the greatest lyricists of all time teams up with Miss Keri Baby for this banger. This has gotta be one of my favorite songs by Nas. Not that deep lyrically, it is most definitely very real. The joint also very specifically reminds me of a moment in senior year in high school. It was for a required Music class that I had to take, where the teacher told us to bring in a song that we really liked. Just to show the diversity of music in the classroom and therefore, the world. Not to be stereotypical but the white boys brought their various forms of rock, the black guys brought their gangsta rap, the white girls brought their radio pop music and the black girls brought their R&B. Of course, mixed in were some classical pieces, some Lupe and techno, etc. I happened to think I was high and mighty in terms of the lyrical music I listened to so I brought Nas. This song, particularly. Needless to say, the class rocked with it. I saw heads bobbin and souls vibin. It was cooler when some people asked me afterwards what song it was exactly. Dope feeling. [Song Of The Week] "Cruisin'" Ace Mac ft. Lupe Fiasco, Raheem DeVaughn

Due to recent events this past weekend, I think this song is pretty fitting right now. If you know me at any capacity, you'll know my pride for Chicago is beyond everything else. And cruisin on Lake Shore Drive is THE single most relaxing thing I can do. What better to cruise to than a song about just that? Check out Chi-Town products Ace Mac and Lupe Fiasco lay down on this smooooth joint.

People always ask me what kind of music I listen to. To be honest, I listen to just about every type of music. Hip hop would most definitely be my preference, but I always appreciate good music. So I decided to start this weekly post called "Song Of The Week." What I'll do is post a song I'm feeling at the moment and share with you guys. Sometimes it'll be a new song, sometimes a really old song, a song that I can't get off repeat, or just the song playing through the speakers as I'm typing this post up. I'll also try to give a slight background story to how I came about the song (if you follow me on Twitter, you'll remember that I said songs remind me of a certain experience I've had). I'll keep it short and sweet on these post, as the main focus is the actual song. Anyways check out this week's track below.



This song might leave you all questioning what genre this is. FreeSol describes themselves as a progressive and unique hip-hop, rock, and soul infused band out of Memphis. Crazy huh? I really dig the vibe to this joint, it's very mellow yet bangs on the speakers. I came across this song during the credits of a Season 7 Entourage episode lol.
